Start the week right! How do you start your day o Start the week right!

How do you start your day on the phone? Checking messages emails socials rushing here to buy and back again.

There is another way to start the day- with some quiet focused attention to help you bring a different framing into your week.

A lovely way to do this is with the guided meditation and I’ll be offering just that at @the_loft_skipton from the 22nd of June for four weeks to help you start the week right.

Make the thing, the thing. We all have our best i Make the thing, the thing.

We all have our best intentions to build habits and do things that are good for us and we often make lists to make sure that we do them. 

But what we need to be careful of is making sure that just ticking the thing off the list doesn’t become the thing that we’re doing rather than the thing that we’re trying to do.

Because then we’re not really doing the thing. 😳

We’re not really present with what it is that we’re trying to do or aware of how we’re trying to change our habits.

Bringing us awareness to how we do the thing is part of changing our behaviour.

And yes, you’ve guessed it - a really good way of learning how to bring awareness to what we’re doing is meditation.

Later in the year I’m running two courses to help people build the habit of meditation.

Do the future you a BIG favour. Does life always Do the future you a BIG favour.

Does life always too busy and your mind is pulled in every which way. 

Work, the kids, stuff needs to be done the house, looking after family - you find yourself overrun, overwrought and grumpy and bad tempered with everyone. 

It's rubbish isn't it?

As the summer holidays approach this can feel like a welcome change - weather dependent maybe - a wet week in the UK could spoil your time off perhaps - or the summer feels like even more work if you now have the kids at home all day as well as everything else to juggle.

Phew! 

So I am NOT suggesting you add anything else to your plate right now....

but what if you were to plan ahead and carve out a bit of space for yourself in September. 

That's ages away, right? But then you can tell everyone you are doing this thing and get all (or at least some) of your ducks in a row :)

Join me for this four week meditation course, with a difference.

Its purpose is to introduce you to the wonderful gift of meditation and how it can help you learn to approach the demands life places on you through fresh eyes.

Whether you want to learn to meditate or refine your meditation practice, this will be a very practical course, everything you learn you can apply in your life right away.

The course starts in September - Tuesday 8th at 7.30pm @the_loft_skipton and 
Wednesday 9th at 7.30pm @feelgoodhub_emma

Creating some accountability. As someone who is p Creating some accountability.

As someone who is pretty disciplined in many areas of my life there seems to be a few places where I struggle to maintain consistency and it’s too easy to not do the thing.

So right now, I’ve got a couple of accountability partner for different things that is really helping me get the thing done, build the muscle memory almost, for that task and help me to start building a habit.

What might you build into your day, your week to help you get done? The things that you are holding as important.

Will power, even motivation, is not enough to get Will power, even motivation, is not enough to get you through.

When we’re trying to change our behaviour and do things differently, 

we have to keep coming back to the inspiration and the reason behind what it is we’re trying to achieve.

We cannot rely on waking up every day feeling super motivated full of willpower and push on through.

Sometimes it’s just about the discipline that keeps us going because we really want to be the thing we’re trying to become.

It’s not easy, but it’s definitely worth it.

We make mistakes, we brush ourselves off we start again.

Things that are worth having never fall into our laps but keep showing up and doing the next best thing to get you there.

Being a beginner and not being very good at it. S Being a beginner and not being very good at it.

So this morning in my practice I’ve listened to a guided meditation from my teacher and went in pretending I didn’t know anything despite the fact that I have done a version of this particular meditation many many many times.

And from that place of being inquisitive as to what I might learn by pretending I didn’t know anything There was loads, of course.

More aware of my busy mind, more aware of drifting off, more aware of my breath at my nostrils, feeling more deeply into appreciation and intent.

I’m being absolutely okay at feeling like I really don’t know very much at all do I.

Go back to being a beginner, you never know what you might find
